I Support Ed Because… Jan Higashi (Hilo)
Aloha! I'm Jan Higashi, and I'm proud to be the East Hawaii coordinator for Hilo boy Ed Case's U. S. Senate campaign.
My husband, Roland, and I have been involved in many Democratic campaigns over the years both statewide and here on the Big Island. We've worked alongside our fellow Democrats to get strong leaders elected starting in the early '60s with Mayor Shunichi Kimura and later Governor George Ariyoshi and others. I guess you could say we've been part of the "Democratic Establishment".
We met Ed Case in 2001 and felt he was just what our party and state needed: a strong effective leader grounded in our local values.
Over the years, our support for Ed has only grown. I believed in Ed so much that I served as his East Hawaii representative when he was our Congressman even though, as a business owner and community activist, I was plenty busy. Ed inspired me with his knowledge and energy, his ability to translate between the worlds of DC and Hawaii, and his commitment to staying in touch through his Talk Stories all around Hawaii.
I support Ed because I believe he will both take care of Hawaii and be a national leader for our country. Being born and raised on Hawaii Island, he lives our values and understands our needs. He's also ready to make the hard decisions we all know we must make because he sincerely cares about our future and knows where to go to get there.
I know that most of you will not have the opportunity to get to know Ed like I do, so I hope you'll take the opportunity to watch this video, Ed Case: Roots. It's airing on Oahu on Olelo (Ch 52) today, June 28 (4:30pm), July 4 (3:00pm), and July 6 (8:30am). You can also watch it here on youtube.
Please also go to our website at www.edcase.com, and join us in supporting Ed Case for United States Senate. I welcome your questions about the real Ed Case.

PS: The FEC reporting deadline is this Saturday, June 30th. Could you give $2500, $250, $25, or what you can to help us elect a true local leader to the United States Senate?
PPS: Ed will be on Kauai this weekend for another of his statewide Pau Hana with Ed events. Please join him at Sweet Marie's in Lihue tomorrow, Friday, June 29th, from 5 - 6:30pm to eat good food, ask your questions, and see why Ed is the strong effective leader Hawaii needs!
