West Hawaii Today Endorses Ed!
Dear Friend:
Mahalo West Hawai'i!
West Hawaii Today, one of Hawai'i Island's two largest publications, endorsed our primary candidacy today.
"Ed Case is our choice to represent the Democratic Party. Case has over the years impressed us with his independence and ability to move legislation, as well as his more conservative perspective on fiscal issues," said the paper.
I'm sure that my record of staying in touch personally with West Hawai'i as your Congressman (2002-2007) also played a part in the endorsement. West Hawai'i is home not only to its Kailua-Kona core but to some of the most rural and isolated communities in our state, with their own special needs. From Kapa'au to Kawaihae, Waikoloa, Captain Cook, Ocean View, Waiohinu and others, I conducted 49 Talk Story with Congressman Ed Case community events around the Big Island as Congressman and then followed up back on Capitol Hill. I will do the same as your U. S. Senator.
I am grateful to West Hawaii Today for its endorsement. My own roots run deep on Hawai'i Island, where I was born and raised, and I've worked and played throughout West Hawai'i my whole life. Audrey's do as well: Her mother, Magdalene Hirata, was born and raised in Kona Mauka, where her family still lives. I would be proud to join my political mentor, U. S. Senator Spark Matsunaga (of Kaua'i), as the Senator from and of our Neighbor Islands.
I can and will provide strong effective leadership for my home island, Hawai'i and our country in the Senate over the next generation. I ask for your vote.
Mahalo and aloha,

Ed Case
