ELEVATOR CONSTRUCTORS LOCAL 126 ENDORSES CASE FOR SENATE
Calls him best able to both grow our economy and support workers
The International Union of Elevator Constructors Local 126 (Hawai'i) today endorsed the candidacy of former Congressman Ed Case (D-HI) for the office of United States Senator.
"We carefully reviewed the candidates and concluded that Congressman Case has the experience and passion to assist Hawaii's working families to be independent, to prosper and to enjoy the fruits of their labor", said Steve Tsunemoto, President of IUEC Local 126. "Our members depend on a strong Hawai'i economy for their jobs and want their children to be able to find good employment here at home also. We believe Ed can best help us accomplish that in the Senate over the next generation."
Marc Yamane, IUEC Local 126 Vice President, said: "Ed impressed us with his leadership ability to stay focused on what Hawai'i needs, which he gets from his hard work and close grassroots connections. His record also shows his commitment to collective bargaining and to federal worker protections."
IUEC Local 126 Business Representative Thad Tomei said: "We are a small construction union of 220 members who work statewide in the installation, modernization, service and repair of all elevator/escalator and related equipment. We are endorsing Ed Case for U. S. Senator because we want legislators with the independence to work for their constituents."
"I'm deeply grateful to the membership and leaders of IUEC Local 126 for their trust and support," said Case. "Hawaii's unionized workers built Hawai'i today and have a major stake in growing our economy on into our future, and I look forward to a full partnership with IUEC Local 126 and their fellow unions in doing just that."
IEUC Local 126 is a member of the Hawaii Building and Construction Trades Council and an AFL-CIO affiliate.
